Input Shaft: Testing and Inspection
COMPLETE ASSEMBLYCheck the input shaft gear assembly for:
^ The clearance between the third gear (3GR) and input shaft gears is 0.030-0.080mm(0.0012-0.0031 inch).
^ The clearance between the fourth gear (4GR) and bearing cone is 0.030-0.080 mm (0.0012-0.0031 inch).
SHAFT ONLY
Check the input shaft for:
^ Visually inspect the transaxle input shaft splines for any damage or wear. Replace the input shaft as necessary.
^ Worn teeth.
Input And Output Shaft Runout Measurement:
^ Input shaft gear runout. Check the runout by mounting the gear shaft in a lathe or V-blocks.
^ Maximum allowable runout is 0.050 mm (0.002 inch).
^ Shaft diameter.
3rd: 35.945-35.970 mm (1.4152-1.4161 inch)
4th: 30.945-30.970 mm (1.2183-1.2193 inch)
^ Fifth sleeve outer diameter: 33.945-33.970 mm (1.3364-1.3374 inches).
^ Inner gear diameter.
3rd: 36.000-36.025 mm (1.4173-1.4183 inch)
4th: 31.000-31.025 mm (1.2205-1.2215 inch)
5th: 34.000-34.025 mm (1.3386-1.3396 inch)
