Flow of Diagnosis

1. Verify customer concern by operating the shift interlock system.
2. Visually inspect the following components of the shift interlock system.
Mechanical
^ Damaged or misadjusted transmission range selector
^ Damaged or misadjusted ignition/shifter interlock cable
^ Damaged or misadjusted shift cable and bracket
^ Damaged ignition switch lock cylinder
Electrical
^ Blown 15A METER fuse
^ Blown 20A STOP fuse
^ Loose or damaged connections
^ Damaged or disconnected Brake On/Off (BOO) switch
^ Damaged wiring harness
3. Check the transmission range selector and ignition/shifter interlock cable for damage or a binding condition.
4. Check the lockout switch for ease of movement, damage, or binding.
5. Check the shift button on the transmission range selector knob for ease of movement through the gears.
6. Repair or replace the necessary component(s) before entering the Symptom Chart.
