Disassembly






1. Use a screwdriver to remove the final drive lube tube from the case. Discard final drive lube tube.





2. Use Rear Lube Tube Seal Replacer TO1P-76085-A to remove the final drive lube tube seal from the case and discard.





3. Remove the park pawl ratcheting spring.





4. Use a 10 mm socket to remove the manual control lever bolt.
5. Remove the manual control lever assembly.





6. Remove the manual control lever shaft assembly.





7. Use a 7 mm socket to remove the parking pawl shaft retainer and bolt assembly.





8. Use O-Ring Tool T71P-19703-C to remove the parking pawl shaft.





9. Remove the parking brake pawl assembly and parking pawl return spring.





10. Use a screwdriver to remove the manual control lever seal. Discard the seal.

CAUTION: Do not damage the transaxle case bore during seal removal.





11. Remove the manual valve actuator rod (Z-link).





12. Protect the case and use a pair of side cutters to remove the manual valve detent lever shaft retaining pin. Using the wood as a lever for the side cutters, draw the pin out. Discard the manual valve detent lever shaft retaining pin.

CAUTION: Do not damage the transaxle case sealing surface.

NOTE: There are two retaining pins, one on either side of the manual valve detent lever.

Manual Shaft Retaining Pin Removal:





13. Protect the case and use a pair of side cutters to remove the manual shaft retaining pin. Use the wood as a lever for the side cutters and draw the pin out. Discard the manual shaft retaining pin.

CAUTION: Do not damage the transaxle case sealing surface.





14. Remove the manual valve detent lever assembly and manual valve detent lever shaft from the case.





15. Use a screwdriver to remove the manual control seal assembly from the case. Discard the seal.

CAUTION: Do not damage the case during seal removal.





16. Using a 14 mm socket,remove the line pressure port plug from the case.





17. Inspect the fluid tube connector seal and remove if necessary.





18. If necessary, remove the No.18 driven sprocket bearing assembly from transaxle case. Install Threaded Drawbar T75T-1176-A, Servo Plug Replacer/Needle Bearing Receiver T94P-77000-E2 (part of Needle Bearing Remover/Replacer/Receiver-Servo Plug Replacer T94P-77000-E) and Needle Bearing Remover/Replacer T94P-77000-E1 (part of Needle Bearing Remover/Replacer/Receiver-Servo Plug Replacer T94P-77000-E).

NOTE: The No.18 driven sprocket bearing assembly can only be replaced once before transaxle case replacement becomes necessary. If the No. 18 driven sprocket bearing has been replaced previously and requires a second replacement, the transaxle case must be replaced.





19. Remove the No. 18 driven sprocket bearing assembly.
