Cleaning and Inspection

CAUTION: The overrunning clutch is packed with grease and is sealed. The overrunning clutch should not be washed in solvent. Do not wash the starter drive with solvent because the solvent will wash out the lubricant and cause the starter drive to slip. Use a brush or compressed air to clean the starter drive, starter motor armature, starter solenoid, brush set, brush holder, gear assemblies, drive end housing, pole-pieces and planet gears. Wash all other pieces in solvent and dry.
