Generator Circuit Description

The generator/regulator circuit consists of:
^ bridge-type rectifier / filter arrangement
^ stator and field coils
^ Integrated Circuit (IC) type voltage regulator (VR)
^ various fuses
^ charge indicator gauge
^ ignition switch

Battery Positive Voltage (B+) Output
The B-terminal is connected internally to the output of the rectifier. Externally, the cable connected to the B-terminal supplies the DC output of the generator (GEN) to the electrical system to charge the battery and operate the electrical accessories while the engine is running.

'L' Circuit
The L-terminal is connected internally to the voltage regulator which is an integrated circuit (IC) type. When the ignition switch is turned on, the voltage regulator energizes the generator rotor.

'S' Circuit
The S-terminal is connected internally to the voltage regulator sensing circuit. Externally, the S-terminal is connected to the positive side of the battery. The S-circuit is used to tell the voltage regulator how much generator output is required.
