Flow of Diagnosis
1. Verify the customer concern by operating the ignition switch.NOTE: If a binding condition occurs, turn the steering wheel left or right to release the possible load on the ignition switch and verify the ignition key is cut properly.
2. Visually inspect the following components of the ignition switch system:
^ Binding condition.
^ Key does not turn.
^ Cannot remove key.
^ Damaged release on steering lock.
^ Damaged cable from gearshift lever (Automatic transaxle only).
^ Blown 40A IG KEY fuse.
^ Blown 15A ROOM fuse.
^ Shorted wire(s).
^ Damaged connection(s).
^ Damaged ignition switch.
3. If the visual inspection does not identify the cause of the customer concern, proceed to diagnosis by symptom.
