Brake Pedal Height - Free Play

1. Depress the pedal a few times in order to eliminate the vacuum in the power brake booster.
2. Depress the brake pedal with a force of 20 N (4.4 lb) and check the brake pedal free play. Brake pedal free play must be 7.8-12.0 mm (0.31-0.47 inch).
3. If the brake pedal free play needs adjusting:
^ Loosen the master cylinder push rod fork end bracket locknut on the brake pedal push rod.
^ Turn the brake pedal push rod to obtain specified free play.
^ Tighten the master cylinder push rod fork end bracket locknut to 24-34 N.m (17-25 lb-ft).







^ Test the brakes to verify that the stoplamps are operational.
