RH/LH Front Primary Crash Sensor and Bracket

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait one minute for the backup power supply energy to be depleted.

WARNING: The backup power supply energy must be depleted before any air bag component service is performed. To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait one minute.

2. Remove the front bumper cover.

NOTE: The following steps apply to either the LH side or the RH side, choose RH or LH as appropriate to the part being removed and installed.

3. Remove the nine screws from the front fender splash shield.

4. Remove the front fender splash shield.






5. Remove the fender primary crash front air bag sensor electrical harness from the fender apron attaching clip and disconnect the fender primary crash front air bag sensor electrical connector.

NOTE: The fender primary crash front air bag sensor electrical connector is a double lock type connector.

6. Remove the two fender primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket bolts.

7. Remove the fender primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION






1. Position the fender primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket with the arrow pointing toward the front of the vehicle and install the two fender primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket bolts. Tighten the fender primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket bolts to 9.0-12 Nm (79-112 lb in).

2. Connect the fender primary crash front air bag sensor electrical connector.

3. Install the fender primary crash front air bag sensor electrical harness into the fender apron attaching clip.

4. Position the front fender splash shield and install the nine front fender splash shield screws. Tighten the front fender splash shield screws to 8.0-10 Nm (71-88 lb in).

5. Install the front bumper cover.

6. Connect the battery ground cable.

7. Verify that the air bag indicator is operative.
