Idle Speed: Adjustments

1. Warm engine to operating temperature.
2. Turn engine OFF.
3. Turn all accessories OFF.
4. Connect Rotunda(r) Digital Multimeter 105-00053 or equivalent to the number one spark plug wire.

Data Link Connector:

5. For models equipped with CD4E (automatic) transaxle, ground the PCM STI (TEN) pin at the Data Link Connector (DLC) located in the left hand front corner of the engine compartment, near the battery.
6. Disconnect the Idle Air Control Bypass Air (IAC BPA) valve connector.
7. Start the engine and run at 2500 rpm for 30 seconds.
8. Make a note of the idle speed.

Idle Speed Adjusting Screw:

9. Turn the idle speed adjusting screw to set the idle speed between 650-750 rpm (700 +/- 50 rpm).
10. Shut engine OFF and re-run the test to verify that the idle speed is correct.
11. Connect the IAC BPA valve connector.
