EGR Valve: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the engine air cleaner.
3. On CD4E (A/T) or California models with MTX (M/T), disconnect the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve position sensor electrical connector.
4. On MTX models with Federal or Canadian emissions, disconnect the EGR valve vacuum hoses and disconnect the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Temperature (EGRT) sensor.
EGR Valve:
5. Remove the two EGR valve bolts.
6. Remove the EGR valve and gasket.
INSTALLATION
EGR Valve:
1. Install the EGR valve and EGR valve gasket.
2. Install the two EGR valve bolts and tighten to 19-25 Nm (14-18 lb ft).
3. On MTX models with Federal or Canadian emissions, install the EGR valve vacuum hoses and connect the EGRT sensor.
4. On CD4E or California 2.0L models with MTX, connect the EGR valve position sensor electrical connector.
5. Install the engine air cleaner.
6. Connect the battery ground cable.
