With Conventional Instrument Cluster
1. Verify the customer concern by operating the system in question.2. Visually inspect the components of the instrument cluster:
Mechanical
- Damaged engine oil filter
- Damaged oil pump
- Damaged vehicle speed sensor gear
- Door adjustment
- Low engine oil level
- Stuck coolant temperature gauge needle
- Stuck oil pressure gauge needle
Electrical
- Blown fuse: 15A METER
- Damaged miniature bulbs
- Damaged wiring harness
- Loose or corroded connections
- Damaged vehicle speed sensor
- Damaged instrument cluster
3. Verify that the following systems are working properly:
- Charging system
- Fuel system
- Safety belt warning chime
- Turn signals
- Headlamps
If the system(s) are not working properly, refer to the appropriate procedures to diagnose the system.
4. Check the wiring harness for obvious signs of shorts, opens, bad connections, or damage.
5. If the fault is not visually evident, determine the symptom and proceed to the Symptom Chart. Conventional Instrument Cluster
