Compressor

NOTE: Whenever the A/C compressor is replaced, the suction accumulator/drier and the A/C evaporator core orifice should also be replaced.

REMOVAL
1. Discharge the A/C system into a proper recovery system. Discharging and Recovery
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Remove the drive belt from the A/C clutch pulley.
4. Raise and support the vehicle.
5. Remove the evaporator to compressor suction line manifold bolt. Discard the O-ring.
6. Remove the A/C compressor to condenser discharge line manifold bolt. Discard the O-ring.
7. Remove the four A/C compressor bolts.
8. Disconnect the A/C compressor clutch field coil electrical connector.
9. Remove the A/C compressor.

INSTALLATION
1. Position the A/C compressor and install the A/C compressor bolts.
2. Connect the A/C compressor clutch field coil electrical connector.
3. Install new O-rings lubricated with clean Motorcraft Refrigerant Oil YN-12b or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B on the manifolds.
4. Position the evaporator to compressor suction line manifold and the A/C compressor to condenser discharge line manifold and install the evaporator to compressor suction line manifold and the A/C compressor to condenser discharge line manifold bolts.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Attach the drive belt to the A/C clutch pulley and check for proper tension.
7. Connect the battery ground cable.
8. Leak test, evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Service and Repair
