Technician Safety Information
WARNING:- Do not smoke, carry lighted tobacco or an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited, resulting in possible personal injury.
- The fuel system is normally pressurized to 207-262 kPa (30-38 psi) when the engine is at idle. The fuel pressure will go to 269-310 kPa (39-45 psi) when the vacuum hose is disconnected from the fuel pressure regulator while the engine is at idle. The system remains under pressure even when the engine is not running and the key is in either the RUN or LOCK position. Fuel supply tubes also will remain pressurized for long periods of time after engine shutdown. This pressure must be relieved before servicing of the fuel system is begun or personal injury or damage to vehicle may occur. Before disconnecting any fuel line, or servicing any fuel system component, perform the fuel pressure release procedure.
