Timing Cover: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the valve cover.





3. Remove the power steering pump drive belt idler pulley shield.





4. Loosen the power steering pump adjusting bolt.
5. Loosen the power steering pump lock bolt.
6. Loosen the power steering pump through bolt.
7. Remove the power steering drive belt.





8. Loosen the generator adjusting bolt.
9. Loosen the generator upper bolt and remove the generator drive belt.





10. Install Rotunda Three-Bar Engine Support 014-00750 or equivalent.





11. Slightly raise the engine with a suitable jack and remove the two RH engine support insulator nuts, the RH engine support insulator through bolt and the RH engine support insulator.
12. Remove the oil level indicator tube bolt and four upper engine front cover bolts and remove the upper engine front cover.
13. Raise and support the vehicle.
14. Remove the front splash shields.
15. Remove the crankshaft pulley and timing belt guide.
16. Remove the four lower engine front cover bolts and remove the lower engine front cover.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the lower engine front cover. Tighten the lower engine front cover bolts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 inch lbs.).
2. Install the crankshaft pulley and timing chain guide.
3. Install the front splash shields. Tighten the front splash shield bolts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 inch lbs.).
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Slightly raise the engine with a suitable jack and install the RH engine support insulator. Tighten the RH engine support insulator through bolt to 86-116 Nm (63-86 ft. lbs.) and the RH engine support insulator nuts to 74-103 Nm (55-75 ft. lbs.).





6. Remove Rotunda Three-Bar Engine Support 014-00750 or equivalent.
7. Install the upper engine front cover. Tighten the upper engine front cover bolts and the oil level indicator tube bolt to 8-10 Nm (71-88 inch lbs.).
8. Install the valve cover.
9. Install the generator drive belt.
10. Adjust the generator drive belt tension.
11. Tighten the generator upper bolt to 19-25 Nm (14-18 ft. lbs.).





12. Install the power steering drive belt.
13. Adjust the power steering drive belt tension.
14. Tighten the power steering pump through bolt to 43-61 Nm (32-46 ft. lbs.).
15. Tighten the power steering pump lock bolt to 31-46 Nm (23-34 ft. lbs.).
16. Install the power steering pump drive belt idler pulley shield. Tighten the power steering pump drive belt idler pulley shield bolts to 7-9 Nm (61-86 inch lbs.).
17. Connect the battery ground cable.
