End Gap

Insert the piston ring into the cylinder by hand and use the piston to push the piston ring to the bottom of the piston ring travel area.





Use a feeler gauge to measure the piston ring end gap.

The end gap for the top piston ring is 0.15-0.30 mm (0.006-0.012 inch).

The end gap for the second piston ring is 0.15-0.30 mm (0.006-0.012 inch).

The end gap for the oil rail is 0.20-0.70 mm (0.008-0.028 inch).

If the end gap for the piston rings or oil rail exceeds specifications, replace the piston rings.
