Coolant Level Check
Coolant level should be checked at least once a month with the engine cold. Verify that the coolant level is at the F mark on the coolant level dipstick (part of the radiator overflow container cap).
If the coolant level is below the F mark, add coolant to the radiator coolant recovery reservoir to raise the level.
With the radiator cap off, examine the coolant in the radiator. Draw a sample with a hydrometer or Rotunda Battery/Antifreeze Tester 014-R1060 or equivalent. Check for rust, dirt, or oil. Also check the freezing point. It should be approximately -17° C (-35° F) if the mixture has not been diluted by adding plain water. If the mixture is diluted but has been replaced within the past year then full protection may be restored by partially draining the system and adding 100 percent Ford Premium Cooling System Fluid E2FZ-19549-AA, or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A to obtain the appropriate ratio of coolant to water.
