Flushing - Radiator Installed

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the water thermostat and reinstall the water hose connection.
4. Disconnect the radiator overflow hose from the radiator coolant recovery reservoir.
5. Disconnect the heater water hoses from the heater core.
6. Connect one heater water hose to the other heater water hose, bypassing the heater core.
7. Remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator.
8. Connect a high-pressure hose to the upper radiator hose. Back flush the radiator and engine until clear water runs out of the radiator upper hose connection.
9. Install the water thermostat and a new water hose connection gasket.
10. Connect all cooling system connections.
11. Connect the battery ground cable.

NOTE: With the entire cooling system drained, the following steps should be used to ensure a complete fill.

12. Close the radiator draincock. With the engine off, add a 50/50 mixture of Ford Premium Cooling System Fluid E2FZ-19549-AA,-B or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A, and water.

CAUTION: Less than 30 percent, approximately 2 liters (2.1 quarts), of coolant concentrate at -16° C (4° F) may cause engine corrosion and overheating.

NOTE: Do not use a galvanized container if the coolant is going to be reused.

13. Install the radiator cap only to the first stop (non-pressurizing). Start the engine and run at fast idle until the upper radiator hose feels warm, indicating the water thermostat has opened.
14. Remove the radiator cap and top off the radiator with the specified coolant/water 50/50 mixture. The total cooling system capacity is 7.01 L (7.4 quarts).
15. Securely install the radiator cap on the radiator with the engine running.





16. Fill the radiator coolant recovery reservoir to the full hot mark with the specified coolant/water 50/50 mixture until the coolant level reaches the F mark on the radiator overflow container cap .
17. Check the cooling system components for leaks with the engine running.
