Removal & Installation

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the radiator cap from the filler neck. If the system is hot and pressurized, be careful to release pressure before opening it fully.

WARNING: NEVER REMOVE THE RADIATOR CAP OR THE FILLER CAP UNDER ANY CONDITIONS WHILE THE ENGINE IS OPERATING. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE COOLING SYSTEM OR ENGINE. TO AVOID HAVING SCALDING HOT COOLANT OR STEAM BLOW OUT OF THE RADIATOR, USE EXTREME CARE WHEN REMOVING THE RADIATOR CAP OR THE FILLER CAP FROM A HOT RADIATOR. WAIT UNTIL THE ENGINE HAS COOLED, THEN WRAP A THICK CLOTH AROUND THE RADIATOR CAP OR THE FILLER CAP AND TURN IT SLOWLY TO THE FIRST STOP. STEP BACK WHILE THE PRESSURE IS RELEASED FROM THE COOLING SYSTEM. WHEN YOU ARE CERTAIN ALL THE PRESSURE HAS BEEN RELEASED, PRESS DOWN ON THE CAP (WITH A CLOTH), TURN AND REMOVE.

3. Drain the cooling system. The radiator draincock is located at the bottom of the radiator.
4. Remove the engine air cleaner intake tube.

5. Remove the upper radiator hose.

6. Remove the lower radiator hose.

7. Disconnect the radiator overflow hose.

8. Disconnect the engine cooling fan motor electrical connector.

9. On automatic transaxle equipped models, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler hoses from the fluid cooler tube and plug the ends of the transmission fluid cooler hoses to prevent leakage.

10. Remove the two radiator support upper bracket bolts and remove the radiator support upper brackets.

11. Remove the radiator fan shroud/engine cooling fan motor assembly from the vehicle.
12. Remove radiator from vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Tighten the radiator support upper bracket bolt to 19-25 Nm (14-18 ft. lbs.).
^ Fill the cooling system.

CAUTION: Ensure that the hose clamps are beyond the bead and centered on the sealing surface. Do not reuse hose clamps; use a new hose clamp to insure proper sealing.
