Radiator: Description and Operation

WARNING: NEVER REMOVE THE RADIATOR CAP UNDER ANY CONDITIONS WHILE THE ENGINE IS OPERATING. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE COOLING SYSTEM OR ENGINE AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY.

The radiator has expansion joints. These joints should not be mistaken for a defect or separation. The joints appear as a gap or cut in the aluminum edges that run across the top and bottom of the radiator core. The joints are necessary to allow for expansion and contraction of the radiator.

The radiator is a crossflow type that uses a vacuum-brazed, flat aluminum core with two molded plastic end tanks.
