Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Verify customer concern by operating the electronic door lock control system.
2. Visually inspect the components of the electronic door lock control system:

Electrical
- Blown fuse(s):
+ 15 A ROOM.
+ 15 A METER.
+ 30 A DOORLOCK.
- Loose or corroded connections.
- Damaged wiring harness.
- Damaged keyless entry remote transmitters(s).
- corroded or damaged batteries in keyless entry remote transmitters(s).
- Damaged electronic door lock control processor.
- Damaged or loose electronic door lock control processor antenna.

3. Verify that these systems are working properly:
- Horn.
- Power door locks/windows.
- Hazards.
- Illuminated entry.

4. Check the vehicle's battery for proper voltage.
5. Disconnect then reconnect the vehicle's battery to reset the electronic door lock control system.
6. Check the keyless entry remote transmitter(s) batteries for proper voltage using these procedures:
a. Remove the batteries from the keyless entry remote transmitter.
b. Attach a Rotunda Instrument Gauge System Tester 014-R1063 or equivalent across one of the batteries.
c. Apply 300 ohms of resistance to the battery.
d. Measure the voltage between the "+" side and "-" side of the keyless entry remote transmitter battery.
e. Repeat steps a-d for the other keyless entry remote transmitter batteries.
f. Each voltage should read between 2.5-3.5 volts. If not, replace the keyless entry remote transmitter batteries.
7. Check the wiring harness for obvious signs of shorts, opens, loose connections, or damage.
8. If fault is not visually evident, determine the symptom and proceed to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
