Safety Belt With Anchor Plate Thread Damage

Seat and shoulder safety belts are factory-installed in their proper locations. If the belts are removed for any reason, they should be installed as shown in Removal and Installation. The 7/16 x 20 safety seat belt Torx head anchor bolts should be hand started and then tightened to 34-46 Nm (25-33 lb ft).

1. Remove the broken or stripped bolt and discard.

2. Drill out the internal threads in the safety belt anchor plate with a 27/64-inch drill.

3. Rethread the anchor plate with a 1/2-13 tap.

4. Blow out the chips.

5. Install the attachment parts in the applicable sequence. Tighten the replacement bolt to 34-46 Nm (25-33 lb-ft). Replace original parts with the service parts indicated in the safety belt parts replacement chart at the end of this section. Unless specified in the chart, use original parts.
