Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
NOTE:- Whenever an A/C evaporator core is replaced, it will be necessary to replace the suction accumulator/drier.
- Before an A/C evaporator core is replaced, it must be leak-tested in the vehicle to verify that it is leaking. If it is necessary to replace an evaporator core, the new core is serviced with a service replacement A/C evaporator case which has the new core. It will be necessary to transfer all vacuum control motors, heater core, A/C vacuum reservoir tank and bracket, heater blower motor switch resistor, blower motor, vacuum lines and air ducts from the old A/C evaporator case to the service replacement A/C evaporator case.
REMOVAL
1. Remove A/C evaporator case. Service and Repair
2. Remove heater core from A/C evaporator case.
3. Remove A/C recirculating air duct.
4. Remove A/C vacuum reservoir tank and bracket.
5. Remove vacuum hose harness from its attachment points on the A/C evaporator case.
6. Remove heater air damper door vacuum control motor.
7. Remove heater blower motor switch resistor.
8. Remove blower motor.
9. Remove heater outlet floor duct.
10. Remove one screw retaining A/C evaporator case support bracket to A/C evaporator case and remove A/C evaporator case support bracket. Tighten screw to 4.5-6.3 N.m (40-55 Lb-In) during installation.
11. Remove one screw retaining A/C evaporator case mounting bracket to A/C evaporator case and remove A/C evaporator case mounting bracket. Tighten screw to 4.5-6.3 N.m (40-55 Lb-In) during installation.
12. Remove A/C evaporator drain tube seal from A/C evaporator case.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
