Timing Chain Tensioner: Service and Repair






REMOVAL

NOTE: The engine front cover (6019) contains the oil pump gears and water pump (8501). If a new engine front cover is to be installed, remove the water pump and oil pump gears from the old engine front cover.

1. Remove engine front cover.
2. Pull back on ratcheting mechanism and install a pin through hole in bracket to relieve tension.
3. Remove timing chain vibration damper (6284) (three bolts) from front of cylinder block (6010).

INSTALLATION





1. With the timing chain vibration damper in the compressed position, install the timing chain vibration damper and retaining bolts to front of cylinder block. Tighten retaining bolts to 8-14 Nm (71-123 inch lbs.).
2. Remove timing chain vibration damper retaining pin.
3. Install engine front cover.
