Extension Housing: Service and Repair

NOTE: The following procedure should be performed only when necessary. After carefully inspecting each subassembly, disassemble only those requiring component replacement or further inspection.





DISASSEMBLY
1. Using a flat-bladed screwdriver, carefully pry out countershaft rear roller bearing retaining ring from rear of extension housing.





2. Using Seal Remover TOOL-1175-AC, Bridge D80L-100-V and Forcing Screw D80L-100-C (Part of Blind Hole Puller Set D80L-100-A or equivalent), remove countershaft rear support bearing and discard.





3. Remove lube funnel and spacer from countershaft rear bearing bore in extension housing.

ASSEMBLY
1. Apply petroleum jelly to lube funnel. Install in extension housing.

NOTE: Make sure tab on lube funnel aligns with notch in extension housing.





2. Install countershaft rear support bearing spacer over lube funnel.

NOTE: Use petroleum jelly to hold spacer in place.





3. Using Step Plate Adapter D80L-630-A and Forcing Screw D80L-100-B or equivalent (part of D80L-100-A or equivalent) and a drawbar, press new countershaft rear support bearing into extension housing until it bottoms.

CAUTION: Round edge of bearing outer race must face inward toward lube funnel.

4. Install countershaft rear support bearing retaining ring into extension housing and apply petroleum jelly to bearing.
