Front Seats
The driver power front seat tracks have these features:^ Seat regulator control switch and housing.
^ Seat regulator motor and gear housing.
^ Vertical drive gears.
^ Horizontal rack-and-pinion drives.
^ System wiring and circuit protection.
The seat regulator control switch allows movement of the seat up, down, forward or rearward as follows:
^ Push the seat regulator control switch knob in the direction of travel to actuate the power seat regulator motors and move the seat in the desired direction.
The mechanical portion of the front seat track in the horizontal drive has these features:
^ A rack-and-pinion drive is located on each front seat track.
^ The pinion housing and seat regulator motor is attached to the movable section of the front seat track.
^ When the seat regulator control switch is actuated, the horizontal armature is energized and the horizontal drive units are activated.
^ The seat is then moved forward or rearward by the pinion gears traveling in a rack on each lower track section.
The vertical drive operates as follows:
^ Worm gear and sector gear mechanisms are used.
^ The drive unit is located in the transmission case.
^ When the seat regulator control switch is actuated, the vertical armature is energized and vertical drive units activated.
^ The seat is then moved up or down by the sector gears.
Each seat regulator motor is protected by a circuit breaker mounted in each seat regulator motor armature.
The seat regulator motors and transmission are serviced as a unit.
Circuit Protection
Circuit protection to the power seats is provided by the power seat (25 A) fuse in the power distribution box.
