Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the outside rear view mirrors to duplicate the condition.
2. Inspect the components of the power rear view mirror system to determine if any of the mechanical or electrical concerns apply:

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
^ Broken outside rear view mirror glass.

Electrical
^ Open fuse junction panel Fuse 8 (10 A).
^ Open connectors.
^ Corroded connectors.

3. Flex the harness and connectors at the outside rear view mirror control as well as the outside rear view mirror. Look for obvious signs of opens or shorts.
4. If inspection reveals obvious concerns that can be readily identified, service as required.
5. If the concerns remain after the inspection, determine the symptoms and go to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
