Air Diverter Valve: Service and Repair

Secondary Air Injection:





REMOVAL and INSTALLATION

1. Remove air cleaner outlet tube.

2. Disconnect main emission vacuum control connector from Secondary Air Injection (AIR) diverter valve.

3. Completely loosen the secondary air injection manifold tube nut from the AIR diverter valve.

4. Disconnect secondary air injection pump outlet hose from the AIR diverter valve.

5. Remove two bolts retaining the AIR diverter valve and remove the AIR diverter valve.

6. Remove the secondary air injection manifold tube from the exhaust manifolds.

7. To install, reverse Removal procedure.
- Tighten retaining bolts for AIR diverter valve to 8-12 Nm (71-106 lb in) on engines with federal emissions.
- Tighten retaining bolts to 15-20 Nm (12-14 lb ft) on engines with California emissions.
- Tighten secondary air injection manifold tube nuts to 38-42 Nm (28-31 lb ft) on engines with federal emissions.
- Tighten secondary air injection manifold tube nuts on engines with California emissions to 26-34 Nm (20-25 lb ft).
- Tighten engine air cleaner tube clamps to 1.4-2.5 Nm (12-22 lb ft).
