Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove lefthand splash shield, then drain transaxle fluid.
3. Disconnect and plug transaxle cooler inlet and outlet hoses, then remove transaxle cooler hose mounting bracket from top righthand side of valve body cover.
4. Disconnect vent hose from top lefthand side of valve body cover.
5. Loosen valve body cover mounting bolts and allow any transaxle fluid to drain from cover.
6. Remove valve body cover mounting bolts and cover, then discard gasket.
7. Disconnect transaxle oil temperature sensor connector, then the solenoid connectors. Note color and position of connectors to ease installation.
8. Remove valve body mounting bolts, then the valve body.


INSTALLATION
1. Position valve body in transaxle case.

NOTE: Ensure manual valve is aligned with manual plate.

2. Install valve body mounting bolts and torque.
3. Connect vent hose to top lefthand side of valve body cover, then install oil cooler hose mounting bracket on top righthand side of valve body cover.
4. Remove plugs from oil cooler inlet and outlet hoses, then connect hoses.
5. Connect solenoid and Transmission Oil Temperature (TOT) sensor connectors.
6. Install new gasket on valve body cover.

CAUTION: Do not use any type of sealer on valve body cover or gasket.

7. Install valve body cover and torque mounting bolts.
8. Install lefthand splash shield. Torque screws to 71-88 in lbs.
9. Lower vehicle, then connect battery ground cable.
10. Fill transaxle with specified transaxle fluid, then check for leaks.
