Valve Cover: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect ignition wires from spark plugs, then ignition wire routing clips from valve cover bolt studs.
2. On lefthand valve cover, remove oil filler cap, then crankcase ventilation hose.
3. On righthand valve cover, remove positive crankcase ventilation valve.
4. Remove valve cover screws, then cover and gasket.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
a. Lightly oil bolt and stud threads before installation. Using solvent, clean cylinder head and valve cover sealing surfaces to remove all gasket material and dirt.
b. Tighten valve cover bolts to 71-106 in lb.
