Accelerator Cable

WARNING: No surrounding engine compartment components such as wiring or hoses may contact any moving member of the accelerator controls. All vehicles are to be checked for return to idle as follows: No perceptible hesitation or prevention of return to idle may occur during slow removal of the foot from the accelerator pedal and shafts starting at the fully depressed wide open throttle position.

Accelerator Pedal And Cable:

1. Using a suitable tool, push the accelerator cable nylon bushing out of the accelerator pedal and shaft arm.
2. Remove the accelerator cable retainer from the accelerator cable housing inside the vehicle where the accelerator cable housing passes through the dash panel into the passenger compartment.
3. Disconnect the accelerator cable at the throttle body throttle lever by rotating the throttle lever to the wide open throttle position and slide cable through slot in cam.
4. Remove the accelerator cable housing to engine mounting bracket retaining screw.
5. Remove the accelerator cable housing to dash panel retaining nuts, wipe module support bracket and housing.
6. Disconnect speed control actuator cable from the throttle body lever cam, if equipped.
7. To install, reverse removal procedure and ensure accelerator cable retainer is pushed into the accelerator housing at least 6.35 mm (1/4 inch). Also be sure accelerator cable moves freely.
