Pinpoint Test AL: Engine Compartment Lamp Inoperative

AL1 - Check Lighting Operation

- Operate all other demand courtesy lamps.
- Observe operation of all other lamps.

Do other lamps light?

YES GO to AL2.
NO GO to Pinpoint Test AK. AK - All Demand Lighting Inoperative

AL2 - Check Bulb

- Remove bulb.
- Using an ohmmeter, check continuity of bulb.

Is bulb in good condition?

YES GO to AL3.
NO REPLACE bulb. RETEST system.

AL3 - Check Ground

- Disconnect wiring.
- Using an ohmmeter measure resistance between ground and circuit 57 (BK).

Is resistance less than 5 ohms?

YES GO to AL4.
NO SERVICE open in circuit 57 (BK). RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

AL4 - Check Circuit 705 (LG/O)

- Disconnect wiring.
- Using a voltmeter check voltage of circuit 705 (LG/O).

YES REPLACE lamp. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE open in circuit 705 (LG/O). RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
