Pinpoint Test AC: Courtesy Lamps On Continuously

NOTE: Ford DOES NOT provide a procedure to perform the following pinpoint test without the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) tester 007-00500 or equivalent.

AC1 - Test System

- Open and close any door. Make sure all doors are closed.
- Wait 30 seconds.

Are courtesy lamps still on?

YES GO to AC2.
NO On vehicles with keyless entry option, GO to AC8. Other vehicles, system is operating normally.

AC2 - Test Dome Lamp Switch

- Press dome lamp switch.

Are courtesy lamps still on?

YES PRESS dome lamp switch a second time. GO to AC3.
NO System is operating normally.

AC3 - Check Driver Door Ajar Circuit

- Connect NGS tester or equivalent to DLC.
- Close driver door.
- Read PID D_DR_LC.

Does PID indicate driver door open?

YES SERVICE circuit 867 (DB), for short to ground. CHECK driver door ajar switch for stuck switch. RETEST system.
NO GO to AC4.

AC4 - Check Passenger Door Ajar Circuits

- Read PID P_DR_LC.

Does PID indicate a passenger door is open?

YES SERVICE circuit 627 (BK/O) for short to ground. CHECK passenger interior lamp switch for stuck switch. RETEST system.
NO GO to AC5.

AC5 - Check For Stuck Dome Lamp Switch

- Read LCM PID DOMESW.

Does PID indicate switch on?

YES SERVICE short to battery in circuit 88 (BK/Y) or stuck switch. RETEST system.
NO GO to AC6.

AC6 - Check Dome Lamp Switch Operation

- Read LCM PID DOMESW.
- Press and hold dome lamp switch.

Does PID indicate switch active?

YES GO to AC7.
NO SERVICE circuit 88 (BK/Y) for open or replace bad switch. RETEST system.

AC7 - Check Lighting Control Module

- Disconnect connector C3 from lighting control module.

Are courtesy lamps still on?

YES SERVICE circuit 53 (BK/LB) for short to B+.
NO REPLACE lighting control module.

AC8 - Check Door Lock Cancel For Illuminated Entry

NOTE: Do not open or crack door.

- Raise either front door handle.
- Press last two buttons on keyless entry keypad.

Do doors lock and courtesy lamps turn off?

YES System is operating normally.
NO GO to AC9.

AC9 - Check Door Lock Cancel, No Locks

- Raise either front door handle.
- Press last two buttons on keyless entry keypad.

Do doors locks lock?

YES GO to AC10.
NO Diagnose Electronic Door Lock control system.

AC10 - Check Door Lock Cancel, Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

- Raise either front door handle.
- Press last two buttons on keyless entry keypad.

Do doors lock and courtesy lamps turn off?

YES REPLACE lighting control module. RETEST system.
NO CHECK circuit 117 (BK/PK) for open in circuit into the lighting control module in pin C3-3. RETEST system.
