GG: Low Oil Pressure Warning Never/Always ON

Pinpoint Test GG - LOW Oil Pressure Warning Never/Always On

GG1 - Check Electronic Instrument Cluster For Warnings

- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Wait past prove-out time.
- Check electronic instrument cluster display to determine whether the warning is always on or never on.

Is LOW OIL PRESSURE warning always on?

YES GO to GG2.
NO GO to GG4.

GG2 - Check Electronic Instrument Cluster For Short Circuit

- Disconnect oil pressure sensor.
- Check electronic instrument cluster for warning.

Is LOW OIL PRESSURE warning illuminated?

YES GO to GG3.
NO REPLACE oil pressure sensor. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

GG3 - Check Continuity In Circuit 31 (W/R)

- Turn ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect electronic instrument cluster.
- Check continuity in circuit 31 (WIR).

Is continuity present?

YES REPLACE electronic instrument cluster. AFFIX odometer sticker to door pillar. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE circuit 31 (W/R). RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

GG4 - Check For Power And Grounds

- Check voltage on the following instrument cluster harness connector pins:

C1-7 54 (LG/Y) 12V (Hot At All Times)
C1-9 964 (DB/LG) 12V (Hot In RUN)
C3-7 88 (BK/W) 12V (Hot In RUN)
C3-2 964 (DB/LG) 12V (Hot In RUN)
C1-8 676 (GY/BK) 0V
C3-1 676 (PK/O) 0V

Are all voltages as specified?

YES GO to GG5.
NO SERVICE as required. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

GG5 - Check Electronic Instrument Cluster For Open Circuit

- Turn ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect connector at oil pressure sensor.
- Connect a jumper wire from circuit 31 (W/R) to ground.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Check electronic instrument cluster for warning.

Is LOW OIL PRESSURE warning illuminated?

YES REPLACE oil pressure sensor. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to GG6.

GG6 - Check Continuity

- Remove jumper.
- Disconnect electronic instrument cluster.
- Check continuity in circuit 31 (W/R).

Is continuity present?

YES REPLACE electronic instrument cluster. AFFIX odometer sticker to door pillar. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE circuit 3 (W/R). RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
