L: Safety Belt Warning Never/Always ON

Pinpoint Test L - Safety Belt Warning Never/Always On

L1 - Check Safety Belt Switch Input


- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Disconnect lighting control module connector C2.
- Measure resistance between pin C2-17, circuit 85 (BR/LB) and a known good ground with safety belt not installed into safety belt buckle connector.

Is resistance 5 ohms or less?

YES GO to L4.
NO GO to L2.

L2 - Check Safety Belt Buckle Switch

- Access and disconnect safety belt buckle switch.
- Measure resistance between switch terminals with safety belt not installed into safety belt buckle connector.

Is resistance 5 ohms or less?

YES GO to L3.
NO REPLACE safety belt buckle switch. GO to L3 to check circuit.

L3 - Check Safety Belt Buckle Switch Ground Circuit 57 (BK)

- Measure circuit 57 (BK), resistance to ground between the safety belt buckle switch and a known good ground.

Is resistance 5 ohms or less?

YES SERVICE open circuit 85 (BR/LB) between safety belt buckle switch and lighting control module.
NO SERVICE open circuit 57 (BK). RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

L4 - Check Lighting Control Module Power Inputs

- Disconnect all lighting control module connectors.
- Reconnect the battery ground cable.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
- Measure voltage between the following connector pins and a known good ground:

C1-1 296 (W/P) B+ RUN/ACC
C1-9 640 (R/Y) B+ RUN/START Input
C3-6 195 (T/W) B+ Input to Lighting Control Module
C3-16 221 (O/W) B+ B+ Input
C4-2 196 (DB/O) B+ B+Input

Is B+ present?

YES GO to L5.
NO SERVICE open circuit or open supply fuse. GO to L5 to check grounds.

L5 - Check Lighting Control Module Ground Circuits

- Measure the resistance between the following connector pins and a known good ground:

Connector Pin Circuit Circuit Function
C3-4 57 (BK) Power Ground
C3-9 57 (BK) Logic Ground

Is resistance 5 ohms or less?

YES GO to L6.
NO SERVICE open ground circuit(s). RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

L6 - Check Safety Belt Warning Indicator Circuit 450 (BK/LG)

- Measure resistance between pin C3-8, circuit 450 (BK/LG) of lighting control module and a known good ground.

Is circuit open (infinite resistance) to ground?

YES GO to L7.
NO REPLACE lighting control module. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

L7 - Check Indicator Bulb

- Access and remove indicator bulb.
- Check continuity of bulb filament.

Is bulb OK?

YES GO to L8.
NO REPLACE indicator bulb. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

L8 - Check Circuit 450 (BK/LG) For Open

- Measure resistance between pin C3-8 of lighting control module and pin C1-1O of instrument cluster.

Is resistance less than 3 ohms?

YES GO to L9.
NO SERVICE open circuit 450 (BK/LG) between lighting control module and cluster.

L9 - Check Indicator Ground Circuit 676 (PK/O) For Open

- Measure resistance circuit pin C1-5 of instrument cluster to a known good ground.

Is resistance less than 3 ohms?

YES SERVICE open instrument cluster flex circuit. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE open ground in circuit 57 (BK). RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
