Pinpoint Test K - High Beam Warning Never/Always On

K1 - Check High Beam Indicator Lamp

- Check instrument cluster high beam indicator to determine if indicator lamp is always on or never on.

Is high beam indicator always on?

YES GO to K5.
NO GO to K2.

K2 - Check High Beam Indicator Bulb

- Remove high beam indicator lamp at instrument cluster. Carefully inspect the miniature bulb.

Is miniature bulb burned out or damaged?

YES GO to K3.
NO REPLACE indicator lamp miniature bulb. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

K3 - Check Circuit 932 (GY/W) For Voltage

- Reinstall high beam indicator lamp.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN, actuate headlamps to high beam.
- Using a voltmeter check for voltage at multi-function switch connector pin C2-5, circuit 932 (GY/W).

Is voltage B+?

YES GO to K6.
NO GO to K4.

K4 - Check Multi-Function Switch Voltage Supply Input

- Gain access to multi-function switch connector.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
- Actuate multi-function switch in high beam position.
- Connect a voltmeter to a known good ground, connect second lead to pin C2-2, circuit 13 (R/BK).

Is voltage B+?

YES REPLACE multi-function switch. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO REFER to Lighting and Horns for lighting system diagnosis. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

K5 - Check Circuit 932 (GY/W) For Short Circuit

- Disconnect instrument cluster connector C2.
- Disconnect multi-function switch connector C2.
- Disconnect lighting control module connector C2.
- Using a voltmeter, connect one test lead to a known good ground, and the second test lead to instrument cluster connector pin C2-12, circuit 932 (GY/W).

Is voltage B+?

YES SERVICE circuit 932 (GY/W) for short to B+. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to Lighting and Horns for lighting system diagnosis.

K6 Check Circuit 932 (GY/W) For Open

- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Actuate multi-function switch to high beam.
- Using a voltmeter connected to a known good ground, check pin C2-12, circuit 932 (GYIW) of instrument cluster for voltage.

Is voltage B+?

YES SERVICE instrument cluster flex circuit. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE circuit 932 (GY/W) for open. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
