NO SERVICE generator. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
X2 - Check Harness To Generator
- Disconnect generator.
- Connect a jumper to ground from circuit 904 (LG/R) near the generator.
Does charge warning go away?
YES SERVICE the generator. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to X3.
X3 - Check Harness To Electronic Instrument Cluster
- Turn ignition switch to OFF.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN but do not start engine.
- Remove jumper.
- Measure voltage at generator from circuit 904 (LG/R) 10 ground
Is it greater than 4 volts?
YES GO to X5.
NO GO to X4.
X4 - Check Electronic Instrument Cluster Integral Voltage Regulator Resistor And Harness
- Turn ignition switch to OFF.
- Remove electronic instrument cluster.
- Check for loose or corroded screws on generator warning lamp shunt resistor on rear of electronic instrument cluster.
- Check that resistor is 400-600 ohms.
- Check continuity from resistor screws to circuit 904 (LG/R) at connector.
- Check for short to ground on circuit 904 (LG/R).
Has any check failed?
YES SERVICE as required to obtain over 4 volts. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
