A: No Communication With Fuel Indication Module (FIM)

Pinpoint Test A - No Communication With Fuel Indication Module (FIM)

A1 - Check Circuit 554 (Y/BK) For Power

- Disconnect fuel indication module (FIM) connector.
- Using a voltmeter, measure for voltage at fuel indication module (FIM) connector pin 1, circuit 554 (Y/BK).

Is voltage B+?

YES GO to A5.
NO GO to A2.

A2 - Check Circuit 554 (Y/BK) For Short To Ground

- Remove fuse EEC (30A) from power distribution box.
- Using an ohmmeter connected to ground, measure resistance at fuel indication module pin 1, circuit 554 (Y/BK).

Is resistance less than 10K ohms?

YES SERVICE circuit 554 (Y/BK) for short to ground. REPLACE fuse EEC (30A). RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to A3.

A3 - Check Supply To Fuse EEC (30A)

- Remove fuse EEC (30A) from power distribution box.
- Using a voltmeter, measure for voltage at fuse EEC input cavity.

Is voltage B+?

YES GO to A4.
NO SERVICE supply to Fuse EEC (30A). RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

A4 - Check Circuit 554 (Y/BK) For Open

- Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance of circuit 554 (Y/BK) between fuel indication module pin 1, and output cavity of fuse EEC (30A).

Is resistance 5 ohms or less?

YES REPLACE fuse EEC (30A). RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE circuit 554 (Y/BK) for open. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

A5 - Check Circuit 361 (R) For Power

- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Using a voltmeter, measure for voltage at fuel indication module connector pin 37 and 57, circuit 361 (R).

Is voltage B+ at both pins?

YES GO to A6.
NO SERVICE open in circuit 361(R). RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

A6 - Check Circuit 570 (BK/W) For Open

- Disconnect fuel indication module connector.
- Using an ohmmeter connected to ground, measure resistance at fuel indication module pins 40 and 60, circuit 570 (BK/W).

Is resistance less than 5 ohms?

YES GO to A7.
NO SERVICE circuit 570 (BK/W) for open. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

A7 - Check Circuit 57 (BK) For Open

- Using an ohmmeter connected to ground, measure resistance at fuel indication module pin 20, circuit 57 (BK).

Is resistance less than 5 ohms?

YES GO to Information Bus diagnostics in Computers and Control Systems to diagnose network concern.
NO SERVICE circuit 57 (BK) for open. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
