ISSUE

There may be a no start condition and/or the 10 amp GFI injector fuse may open on some vehicles. This may be caused by wire harnesses that are free to move around, resulting in a short to ground in the injector circuit.

ACTION

Inspect the wire harness for chafing. Remove each affected wire from its plug one at a time and insulate the wire with a Ford-approved heat shrink tubing. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect battery ground.

2. Remove the shield covering the compuvalve and regulator.

3. Disconnect J13 and P13.

4. Inspect the wiring harness from J13 to J25 and from P13 to the high flow injectors for short to ground or chafing near the transmission housing.

5. Remove each affected wire from its plug one at a time and insulate the wire with a Ford-approved heat shrink tubing. Place the wire back in its proper location.

6. Once all affected wires have been insulated, reconnect J13 and P13.

7. Secure the wiring harness away from the transmission housing using a nylon tie strap.

8. Replace compuvalve/regulator shield and reconnect the battery.
