Front Sensors and Brackets

WARNING: The backup power supply energy must be depleted before any air bag component service is performed. To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait one minute.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait one minute for the backup power supply energy to be depleted.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
4. Remove the 11 front fender splash shield screws.

Splash Shield:

5. Remove the front fender splash shield.

NOTE: The following steps indicate both RH/LH. Choose RH or LH as appropriate to the part being removed and installed.

NOTE: The RH/LH front air bag sensor electrical connector is a double lock type connector.

Front Sensor:

6. Remove the RH/LH front air bag sensor electrical harness from the fender apron clip and disconnect the RH/LH front air bag sensor electrical connector.

Front Sensor:

7. Remove the two RH/LH front air bag sensor bolts.
8. Remove the RH/LH front air bag sensor and bracket from the vehicle.
9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
10. Tighten the front air bag sensor bolts to 9-13 Nm (80-115 lb in). Verify that the air bag warning indicator is operative.
