Quick Tests

To prepare vehicle for these tests, connect scan tool and/or access DTCs as outlined under Accessing Diagnostic Trouble Codes, then proceed as follows:
1. Do not move ride select switch during the first two procedures or testing sequence must be started again by accessing DTCs.
2. Test steering sensor as follows:
a. With engine running and vehicle at rest, turn steering from lock to lock until FIRM RIDE dash indicator light comes ON.
b. FIRM RIDE indicator should stay illuminated for five seconds after steering movement is stopped.
c. If FIRM RIDE indicator does not illuminate, refer to pinpoint test A14.
3. Test speed sensor as follows:
a. Start with FIRM RIDE light not illuminated and vehicle at rest.
b. Accelerate vehicle to any speed above 12 MPH.
c. FIRM RIDE indicator should light and remain illuminated until speed drops below 12 MPH.
d. If FIRM RIDE indicator does not light or remain illuminated as above, refer to pinpoint test A21.
4. Test ride select switch as follows:
a. Start with FIRM RIDE indicator not illuminated, ride select switch in AUTO position and engine OFF with ignition ON.
b. Move ride select switch to FIRM position.
c. After FIRM RIDE indicator illuminates, wait five seconds, then move ride select switch back to AUTO position and wait till indicator goes out.
d. Repeat above steps 12 times.
e. If FIRM RIDE indicator does not illuminate, refer to pinpoint test B11.
f. If FIRM RIDE indicator flashes a trouble code, refer to the code table.
5. Test brake sensor as follows:
a. Start with FIRM RIDE indicator not illuminated, ride select switch in AUTO position and engine OFF with ignition ON.
b. Depress brake pedal. FIRM RIDE indicator should illuminate.
c. Release brake pedal. FIRM RIDE indicator should go out after five seconds.
d. If FIRM RIDE indicator does not illuminate, refer to pinpoint test A23.
e. If FIRM RIDE indicator flashes a trouble code, refer to code table.
f. Start with FIRM RIDE indicator not illuminated, ride select switch in AUTO position and engine OFF with ignition ON.
g. Depress accelerator pedal, FIRM RIDE indicator should illuminate.
h. Release accelerator pedal, FIRM RIDE indicator should go out after five seconds.
i. If FIRM RIDE indicator does not illuminate, refer to pinpoint test A12.
j. If FIRM RIDE indicator flashes a trouble code, refer to code table.
6. Test dimming function as follows:
a. Start with FIRM RIDE indicator not illuminated, ride select switch in AUTO position and engine OFF with ignition ON.
b. Move ride select switch to FIRM position and turn ON headlights, FIRM RIDE indicator should dim.
c. Turn headlights OFF, FIRM RIDE indicator should brighten.
d. If FIRM RIDE indicator does not dim and brighten, refer to pinpoint test C3.
