Testing Notes
CAUTION:
A 12 volt (incandescent) Test Lamp should not be used to test Crankshaft Position Sensor (PIP) Camshaft Position Sensor (CID) Ignition Diagnostic Monitor (IDM) or SPOUT circuit signals. It will load the circuit and may cause erroneous measurements or improper Ignition Control Module (ICM) and Power Control Module (PCM) operation (i.e. Engine stall).
NOTE:
- When using a DVOM, correct test lead polarity must be followed. The red lead is positive (+) and the black lead is negative (-).
- When making voltage checks and a reference to ground is made use either the negative battery lead or cast iron on the engine. B+ means the positive battery cable at the battery.
- A reset circuit has been added to ensure that the (ICM) is synchronized with the engine during crank and start.
