Oil Pan: Service and Repair
Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove oil level indicator tube from lefthand side of cylinder block.
2. Remove air cleaner outlet tube, then raise and support vehicle.
3. Drain crankcase, then disconnect low oil level sensor electrical connector.
4. Remove starter motor.
5. Remove dual converter and pipe.
6. Remove front engine support insulator to front subframe nuts.
7. Remove rear engine support and rear engine support insulator.
8. Remove steering gear bolts and position steering gear forward out of way.
9. Raise and support engine in position allowing clearance for oil pan removal.
10. Remove oil pan bolts, then lower oil pan to front subframe.
11. Remove oil pump, oil pump screen cover and tube bolts. Allow oil pump and oil pump screen cover and tube to drop into oil pan.
12. Remove oil pan from vehicle.
Installation
1. Clean oil pan and inspect for damage, then clean oil pan gasket surface on cylinder block.
2. With oil pump and oil pump screen cover and tube positioned in the oil pan, install oil pump and then install oil pan gasket (6710). Tighten oil pan bolts to 12-16 N.m (110-144 in lb.)
3. Lower engine onto front sub-frame and install front engine support insulator retaining nuts. Tighten to 97-133 N.m (72-98 lb-ft).
4. Position steering gear and install retaining bolts. Service and Repair
5. Install the starter motor and reconnect electrical connections. Connect engine control sensor wiring (12A581) to low oil level sensor.
6. Install rear engine support insulator and crossmember (5025)
7. Install dual converter and pipe Exhaust System
8. Lower vehicle.
9. Install oil level indicator tube to side of cylinder block.
10. Connect battery ground cable.
11. Fill crankcase to proper level with specified engine oil.
12. Install air cleaner outlet tube Air Cleaner Housing
13. Apply parking brake and, while holding foot on brake, start engine and allow to run for a few minutes.
14. Turn engine OFF and check for oil leaks.
15. Remove fender covers.
16. Closehood.
