Fig. 9 Timing Chain Alignment:

1. With the timing chain vibration damper in the compressed position, install the timing chain vibration damper and retaining bolts to front of cylinder block. Tighten retaining bolts to 8-14 Nm (71-124 lb-in).

2. Rotate crankshaft as necessary to position piston No.1 at TDC and keyway at the 12 o'clock position.

3. Lubricate timing chain with engine oil.

Install camshaft sprocket, crankshaft sprocket and timing chain. Ensure timing marks line up across from each other.

4. Install distributor drive gear.

5. Install retaining bolt and washer assembly at end of camshaft. Tighten to 40-50 Nm (30-37 lb-ft).

6. Remove timing chain vibration damper retaining pin.

7. Install engine front cover. Installation
