Manual Transmission/Transaxle: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.2. Disconnect all electrical wiring and speedometer cable from transaxle.
3. Loosen clutch cable adjuster nut and disengage cable from release lever.

4. Remove starter motor, then the two bolts located at top of clutch housing.
5. Support engine using suitable support fixture.
6. Remove shift rod to input shaft rail attaching nut and bolt.
7. Remove lower control arm to steering knuckle attaching nuts and bolts, then disengage halfshafts from transaxle. Install differential plug T87C-7025-C, or equivalent, into transaxle to prevent movement of side gears.
8. Remove Noise, Vibration, Harshness (NVH) bracket attaching bolts and bracket, then remove the crossmember.
9. Position suitable transmission jack under transaxle, then secure transaxle to jack with safety chain.
10. Remove remaining attaching bolts, then pull transaxle away from engine and lower out of vehicle.
11. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. When installing halfshafts, use new circlips.
b. Torque clutch housing to engine attaching bolts to 57 ft lb.
12. After installation is completed, check transaxle fluid, and adjust clutch pedal freeplay.
