Ignition Timing: Adjustments

1. Warm engine to operating temperature.

2. Turn all electrical accessories OFF.

3. Connect Rotunda Timing Analyzer (059-00014), or equivalent.

Data Link Connector:






4. Ground Self Test Input (STI) terminal.

Timing Mark:






5. Check base timing. Yellow timing mark on crankshaft pulley should align with pointer on timing belt cover.

Base Timing: 10° BTDC

Distributor:






6. If timing marks are not aligned, loosen mounting bolts and turn distributor until marks are properly aligned.

7. Tighten the distributor mounting bolts to 19-25 Nm (14-18 ft lb).

8. After tightening bolts, make sure timing did not move.

9. Remove STI connector ground.

10. Disconnect timing light analyzer.
