^ IGNITION SWITCH - INOPERATIVE WHEN INTERIOR TEMPERATURES ARE ABOVE 27 DEGREES C (80 DEGREES F) - VEHICLES BUILT THROUGH 7/1/95

FORD:
1995 ASPIRE

ISSUE:
In high ambient temperatures (above 27°C/80°F), the ignition switch may become inoperative. This may be caused by the internal part dimensions of the switch not being to specification, causing the switch to become inoperative due to thermal expansion.

ACTION:
Replace the ignition switch with a new ignition switch. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Verify the concern. Try to start the vehicle when the interior temperature is 27°C (80°F) or higher. If the vehicle will not crank, allow the vehicle to cool and retest.

2. If the vehicle now cranks when cool, replace the ignition switch with a new ignition switch (F4BZ-11572-A). Refer to the 1995 Aspire Service Manual, Page 11-05-9 for removal and replacement procedures.

3. If, after cooling, the vehicle still will not crank, follow the Diagnostic and Testing Procedure in the 1995 Aspire Service Manual, Section 11-05.
