EGR Control Solenoid: Service and Repair

REMOVAL and INSTALLATION

NOTE: The EGRC and EGRV solenoids are not serviceable separately.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.

EGR Solenoid Assembly:






2. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) control solenoid and the EGR vent solenoid.

NOTE: Mark the location of the vacuum hoses prior to removal to ease installation.



Exhaust Gas Recirculation Solenoid Assembly:






3. Disconnect the EGR vent and control solenoid electrical connectors.

EGR Solenoid Assembly:






4. Remove the EGR solenoid assembly nuts.

5. Remove the EGR solenoid assembly.

6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
