Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.

Mass Airflow Sensor:






2. Disconnect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.

Intake Air Temperature Sensor:






3. Disconnect the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector.


Tube:






4. Loosen the clamp and remove the air cleaner intake tube from the MAF sensor.
5. Disconnect the vacuum hose.
6. Remove the upper engine air cleaner.

Mass Air Flow Sensor:






7. Remove the two MAF sensor bolts and the MAF sensor.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the MAF sensor and the two sensor bolts. Tighten the bolts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 lb in).
2. Install the upper engine air cleaner.
3. Connect the vacuum hose.
4. Install the air cleaner tube to the MAF sensor and tighten the air cleaner holding clamp.
5. Connect the IAT sensor electrical connector.
6. Connect the MAF sensor electrical connector.
7. Connect the battery ground cable.
