AB5 - Check PIP Circuit For Shorts to Power and Ground

- Key "OFF".

- Install breakout box.

- Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

- Disconnect Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.

- Disconnect Ignition Control Module (ICM) (Pins 1-6).

- Measure resistance between test pin 56 (PIP) and test pins 16, 20, 40, 46, 60 (short to ground), 26, 37, 57 (short to power).

- Is each resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes -- Go to AB6. AB6 - Isolate Shorts In PCM

No -- Service short circuit. Remove breakout box. Reconnect all components. Rerun quick test. Quick Test Appendix (Detailed Testing Instructions)
