Installation Procedure
1. Place a rag over the instrument panel to prevent adhesive from damaging any parts.2. Peel off "white" protective backing from the two (2) adhesive pads located on the LOWER RH & LH corners of the air bag door. (See Figure 3)
NOTE:
Do NOT apply adhesive to the two (2) lower pads.
3. Clean the instrument panel area where the air bag door pads contact the instrument panel with the alcohol pad provided. (Any excess material left from the old pads must be removed.)
4. Apply just enough adhesive to the area of the instrument panel where the UPPER pads contact. (See Figures 1 and 2) Follow all precautions on the adhesive container; be sure to avoid contact with the adhesive which can bond skin very quickly.
5. Insert the passenger side air bag module into the instrument panel, making certain the guide pins insert into the guide holes. The tab on the module must insert into the clip in the instrument panel. Press the air bag cover to the instrument panel in the area of the pads and hold with moderate pressure for 20 seconds.
NOTE:
Make certain the wiring harness is not pinched between the passenger side airbag module and the instrument panel pad.
6. Secure the passenger side airbag module with the four bolts removed during the removal procedure. Tighten the passenger side airbag module bolts to 2.7-3.7N-m (23-33 lb-in).
7. Connect the passenger side airbag module electrical connectors.
8. Insert the pin on the connector into the hole on the back of the passenger side airbag module.
NOTE:
Connect all connectors securely.
9. Install the 12" section of heat duct.
10. Install the glove compartment cover and glove compartment.
11. Connect the two connectors to the diagnostic monitor.
12. Connect the battery ground cable.
13. Verify that the airbag warning indicator is operative, and that no fault codes are displayed.
14. Return removed module (properly tagged and identified) to the Company. Refer to program letter Attachment II.
